Kerrang 2003

Grand Magus
Monument
(Rise Above)
KKKK

Second album of titanic Swedish metal forged the old-fashioned way.

GRAND MAGUS are one of those bands that really love their art. To call them stoner does them a disservice, however, because they are way beyond such arbitory tags and īMonumentī is nothing if not a glorious tribute to both colossal guitar damage and the inventive spirit.

Much of this can be put down to vocalist / guitarist JB, whose appearances with spiritual Beggars should give a fair idea as to what to expect.

So, if the sound of mountain ranges on the move makes you grin like a riff-happy idiot then this stupendous amalgamation of 70īs hard rock, shuddering doom metal and menacing atmospherics definitly deserves a spin. This is epic metal for those who need grime in their groove.
